Design-Led

MB&F
Legacy Machine 101 EVO
40mm / 16.5mm / In-house manual winding calibre with 14mm suspended flying balance wheel, FlexRing shock absorber, 80m water resistance / Open, architectural layout with elevated flying balance wheel dominating the upper register; salmon or peacock green CVD dial plate; power reserve subdial; high-domed sapphire crystal

The LM101 EVO's flying balance wheel suspended visibly above the movement is a direct parallel to the client's love of three-dimensional, sculptural, movement-as-art watchmaking (Vianney Halter DNA). MB&F's steampunk-meets-haute-horlogerie aesthetic also resonates with the Franck Muller eccentricity and FP Journe's movement-centric philosophy. The 2025 EVO refresh brings this into current production with a titanium case and a bold colour palette.

Roger Dubuis
Excalibur Automatic Skeleton
42mm / 11.44mm / In-house automatic calibre RD820SQ, fully skeletonised with skeletonised micro-rotor, Poinçon de Genève certified / Full skeleton with signature five-armed star-shaped bridge; open view through the entire movement; charcoal grey rhodium-plated with circular-grained plate

This is the grail alternative — it captures the core DNA of the Cartier Crash Skeleton: radical skeletonisation, a dial that is entirely the movement made visible, and an art-object identity worn on the wrist. The Excalibur's star-shaped openwork architecture is as visually dramatic as the Crash's stripped skeleton, but within budget and currently available. The 42mm case satisfies the size floor, and the Poinçon de Genève finishing matches the haute horlogerie standard the client expects from FP Journe and Vianney Halter.

Urwerk
UR-100V Magic T Hunter Green
41mm × 49.7mm / 14mm / Calibre UR 12.02 — automatic with Windfänger airscrew turbine regulation, 48h power reserve, 28,800 vph / Full titanium dial in Hunter Green with satellite wandering hours, retrograde minutes, and dual astronomical spacetime indications (Earth rotational and orbital distance in 20 minutes)

Shares the client's appetite for radical, science-forward design (echoing the Deep Space Tourbillon's cosmos obsession) and unconventional time display (echoing the Crazy Hours' refusal of convention). The orbital satellite display and spaceship-derived case architecture make the dial itself the spectacle — perfectly dial-forward. The integrated titanium bracelet and lightweight case also rhyme with the Élégante 48 Titanium's material philosophy.

Czapek
Antarctique Révélation
40.5mm / 10.6mm / In-house calibre SXH5 micro-rotor automatic – skeletonised, 28,800 vph, 60+ hour power reserve, platinum micro-rotor from 100% recycled platinum / Full skeleton dial exposing sandblasted black bridges, bevelled hand-chamfered angles, open ratchets and movement architecture — luminescent sword hands float above exposed mechanics

This is the grail alternative. The Cartier Crash Skeleton's essence is an organic, non-round case housing a completely open skeleton dial — art object as much as watch. The Antarctique Révélation captures that skeleton-dial obsession in a more attainable independent watchmaking context, with Czapek's tasteful skeletonisation that is, as reviewers note, 'without being overpowering.' It shares the same design-led, dial-as-spectacle philosophy while staying within budget and at a scale (40.5mm) that suits this collector's 38mm+ minimum.

Louis Vuitton
Tambour Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon
46mm / Not officially published / In-house LV 82 calibre – automatic flying tourbillon with GMT complication, 65-hour power reserve, 28,800 vph / Layered cutout 'Venetian blinds' matte black dial with contrasting depth layers, flying tourbillon aperture, GMT subdial — in titanium or titanium with 18k pink-gold accents

The Möbius-strip-extrapolated Tambour Curve case is as architecturally bold and unconventional as the Vianney Halter's sci-fi aesthetic and the Franck Muller's eccentric case language. The exposed flying tourbillon on an elaborately cut, depth-layered dial delivers the dial-forward drama this collector prizes, while the 46mm titanium case fits perfectly alongside the FP Journe Élégante 48.

Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO
44mm / 17.5mm / In-house LM Perpetual Engine by Stephen McDonnell – mechanical-processor perpetual calendar, automatic, hovering 14mm balance wheel / Open, multi-layered exposition dial with hovering balance wheel centerstage, perpetual calendar indications on floating subdials, icy blue CVD dial-plate on titanium edition

Mirrors the Deep Space Tourbillon's commitment to three-dimensional, architecturally sculptural dials and the FP Journe Élégante's premium use of titanium. The no-bezel sapphire construction gives an unobstructed cinematic view of the movement — dial-forward to an extreme degree — while the avant-garde perpetual calendar complication echoes the Franck Muller Crazy Hours' obsession with reimagining time display. A design-led dress watch that rewards obsessive study.
